Our lab is located at the University of Calgary in the beautiful city of Calgary surrounded by Rocky Mountains. We are a part of the Department of Psychology, The Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Alberta Children's Research Institute. For our partner lab, click here.
Our lab studies the neural circuits underlying emotional and social behaviours in healthy and diseased states. We employ early life adversity and chronic social isolation paradigms to study the impact of prolonged stress on brain development and function. We use a multidisciplinary approach with a combination of patch clamp electrophysiology, in vivo calcium imaging, optogenetics, histological and behavioural analysis in transgenic mouse models to answer these questions. With these approaches, we seek to ultimately develop novel circuit-based treatments for neuropsychiatric diseases characterized by mood dysregulation.
We are always interested in motivated candidates to join our lab.
